The Square integration connects your Square account to AccountEdge so that completed Square orders and payments flow into your company file automatically — no manual data entry required.
This article covers the basics of what the integration does (and doesn't do) before you set it up.
What does the Square integration actually do?
Once connected, AccountEdge can import your paid Square orders and turn them into accounting transactions:
A Professional Sales Invoice for each completed Square order
A Receive Payment for any payments made on those orders
A Bank Deposit that includes the payments received, along with Square fees and any cash back given
What doesn't the integration do?
A few important things to set expectations correctly:
AccountEdge does not touch Square inventory. Items are not synced up to Square or down to AccountEdge — the integration is for financial transactions only.
Only paid orders are imported. Open or unpaid Square orders are not brought into AccountEdge.
Imported sales always come in as Professional Sales Invoices, regardless of how the item was sold in Square.
Do I need a specific version of AccountEdge?
Yes — the Square integration is available in AccountEdge 2022 and later. If you're on an older version, you'll need to upgrade before you can connect Square.
