Zip Archives Created From AccountEdge Pro
In AccountEdge Pro, AccountEdge Network Edition and AccountEdge Basic, when you create a backup of a company file (File > Backup), the backup is saved in a compressed, zip format. When you Restore from a backup in AccountEdge (File > Restore), you are restoring from a compressed, zip format file. Compressed, zip files have a file extension of .zip.
Create a Zip Archive of a Company File (Compress a company file)
To create a Zip archive (not using AccountEdge):
Windows:
- Navigate to the folder where the file is located
- Right-click on the file
- Scroll to Send To > Compressed (zipped) Folder in the pop-up window
- This will create a zip archive (.zip) (a compressed archive) of the file in the same folder
Mac:
- Navigate to the folder where the file is located
- Right-click on the file, or hold the Control button on the keyboard and click one time on the file
- Select Compress or Create Archive in the pop-up window
- This will create a zip archive of the file in the same folder
Extract a Company File from a Zip Archive
To extract from a Zip archive (not using AccountEdge):
Windows:
Right-click and scroll to Extract All. A file or folder will be extracted. If a folder is extracted, the file(s) will be in the folder, otherwise the file will be extracted.
Mac:
Double-click on the zip archive. A file or folder will be extracted. If a folder is extracted, the file(s) will be in the folder, otherwise the file will be extracted.
