FileConnect Closes/Crashes after Launch

When FileConnect shuts down or crashes immediately after being launched, follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Verify File Permissions

Ensure that the appropriate permissions are granted to FileConnect and associated applications:

Full Disk Access (macOS):

Navigate to: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access

→ Ensure that AccountEdge NE is enabled.

Local Network Access (macOS 15 and above):

Navigate to: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network

→ Ensure both AccountEdge NE and FileConnect Browser are enabled.

2. Check for Background Instances Using Activity Monitor

Attempt to launch FileConnect. If the application still shuts down:

  1. Use the global search option (click on the magnifying glass on the top right corner of the screen and search for Activity Monitor)
  2. Open Activity Monitor.
  3. From the top menu, click View > All Processes.
  4. Use the search bar in the top-right corner to search for FileConnect.
  5. If found, select FileConnect from the list.
  6. Click the “X” icon in the top menu bar, as shown in the below screenshots.
  7. Select Force Quit to terminate any background instance occupying the required socket.

3. Restart FileConnect

Launch the FileConnect application again.

Check if it now stays open and functions as expected.

4. Configure a Custom Port (if the issue persists)

If Fileconnect continues to shut down:

  1. Go to System Settings > AccountEdge > FileConnect > Port Number.
  2. Enter a value between 0 and 65535 in the Port Number field and click Apply to save the changes. Something like 49745 would be a good example. Keep in mind that the port you set cannot be used by any other apps on your mac.
  3. Restart FileConnect.

Once FileConnect is successfully running:

  1. Open the AccountEdge application.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. When the FileConnect window appears, manually enter the IP address and the custom port configured earlier.
  4. Click Connect
  5. Login to the company file and confirm that you are now able to access the company file data.
